I recently posted my early thoughts on the GoPro HERO 13 Black and the accessories and mounts that I had purchased for it. I also promised an update after my most recent order: a 256GB MicroSD card and a Magnetic Latch Ball Joint Mount. Well, UPS delivered and now so must I.

Let’s get the SD card out of the way first, it’s a MicroSD card, it’s much bigger than the one that came in my GoPro Bundle, it’s given me 3 hours more space for footage, I’m very happy. 10/10.

The SD card was a no brainer, but I ummmed and ahhhed over the Ball Joint for some time. Having purchased the Magnetic Swivel Clip as an alternative to the Head Strap and Chesty for POV hiking videos, I wasn’t 100% happy with the field of vision that it granted, and the Ball Joint seemed like a good solution, but would it push the needle that much and at £19.99 (£39.99 for non-subscribers), was it a waste of money?

Quick answer: no, it was not. The mount is an absolute game-changer, the extra range of motion allows you to keep your videos in a landscape view upon movement when attached to the Magnetic Swivel Clip. This offers a superb alternative option for POV shots when you have too many layers to comfortably wear the Chesty and don’t want to wear a Head Strap (the Head Strap 2.0 is not compatible with the Ball Joint).

Trying out the Magnetic Latch Ball Joint Mount

The Magnetic Latch Ball Joint Mount is compatible with anything that uses the Mounting Base system. Honestly, I wish I had bought one sooner.

Let me know what GoPro Accessories you have added to your set up recently or any of your all-time favourite mounts.
